This isn’t Lancashire! I’m at Middleham Castle in Yorkshire, researching for By Loyalty Bound.

I’m a Lancashire Lass, born and bred in the county and fascinated by its history. I can trace several lines of my ancestors back to the 1600s and the occupation that pops up again and again on the censuses is ‘cotton weaver’ – changing from handloom weaver to powerloom weaver as the Industrial Revolution takes hold. It was that radical change in the lifestyles of Lancashire men and women and their struggle to adapt to a new way of living that inspired the books in my first saga series – The Mill Town Lasses.
